One of my fondest memories around this time of year is sipping hot chocolate while nibbling on a date square. My Mom did not do a lot of baking, but these are one of the things she did bake regularly at Christmas Time.
I just love this recipe, it is an all time favourite of mine and one I think you will enjoy.
1 3/4 cup rolled oats Mix all dry ingredients and rub in the butter.
1 1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 pound dates
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
1 tsp. vanilla
Boil dates slowly in water and add vanilla Place 1/2 of dry ingredients in 8″x10″ pan. Add filling. Add remainder of dry ingredients. Dampen top slightly. Bake in 350 F degree oven until slightly browned, approximately 45 min. Cool on rack.
Now that the sweet treats is out of the way let me tell you what is new and happening…..we have just found out that we are going to need to put our home up for sale! At first this made me feel anxious and insecure, but after giving it some though it makes perfect sense with where we are in our life. What will this mean for you? While first of all I am putting all our denim jackets and vests on sale. Sixty dollars off!
This is great news for you with the Christmas Season right around the corner!
Although we will be very busy preparing of this move I want you to know that keeping up my blog posts and keeping in tough with you is my #1 priority. With that I will leave you with some local show dates so you can mark your calendars.
