Letting go of the past to make room for the future. It is so funny how we human beings operate. I am not sure if it is a female trait or it runs equally among both men and women. Being a Mom I know it is sometimes hard to let go of things from when our children are little. Cute outfits, special sweaters that Nana knit, that favourite Beanie Baby toy or that sweet little drawing your son gave you one day when you may have been feeling sad. All these things become emotional attachments and can be very hard to let go of. When emotional items become hard to let go of I have started to take a long hard look at why I can not seem to let it go. Don’t get me wrong here I am not saying not to keep some moments and heirlooms that have been left for us but at some point we need to draw a line.
I have come to a point where most rooms in my house are only full of things that I love and inspire me. All the rooms that is except our dreaded basement. This is one space that has become a dumping ground for everyone in our family.
With young adult children leaving the nest and sometimes fluttering back in again it can be difficult to know where to begin. So I have started a challenge with myself to tackle our basement for 15minutes a day. This system is recommended by two of my favourite authors- “Samantha Bennet” and #FLY Lady# In there books they both recommend tackling things fifteen minutes at a time. They both come from somewhat different bases but both lead you in the right direction to TAKING ACTION. So here on my blog I will be posting every couple of weeks to update you on my progress. If you have a room or project that needs getting done why not join me and we can spur one another on. Life is to short to not make room for all that lays ahead for us.
